Although Microsoft would be paying (Samsung probably) for the Blu Ray drive, and Samsung will be paying SONY the royalties for Blu Ray, it will hardly come close to all of the royalties that SONY pays annually to Microsoft... This isn't about Royalties.
SONY pays Microsoft with every Vaio it sells that runs WINDOWS, and every SONY/Ericsson phone running windows mobile. Not to mention any Microsoft developed Codecs that aid in the Blu Ray decoding process.
That says it all for me.
If you like games, and aren't worried about Blu Ray movies, it's a no brainer.
10 retail games!
There aren't even 10 retail games worth playing on the PS3 yet.
I doubt we will ever see an XBox360 with a Blu Ray drive. It's not cost effective, and the Xbox360 has done great so far without worrying about HD Movies. I think they will keep to their mantra of "Games Games Games". Maybe an external add-on is in the works, but I doubt it will be built in. Just my opinion. Fire away
I don't like the emphasis that's put on "NEEDING" a wheel to truely enjoy the game.
I think that's a complete matter of preference.
I really enjoyed Forza 2 with the wheel and force feedback, it was amazing, but I was actually turning in slower lap times with the wheel. There's just no way to get your foot to move between the gas and the brake pedal as quickly as your fingers can feather between the buttons. So, ultimately I sold my wheel, and continued to progress w...
That one of the guys ahead of him has investments in oil. With the way the world is getting raped (without justification) on gas / petrol prices lately, and oil companies having their MOST PROFITABLE year ever last year, I'd expect to see some of the world's richest people keep getting richer as they jack up the price of oil for no reason.
His face is sliding off of his head
It'd be like Mario Kart without red turtle shells!!
There's nothing more exciting than driving toward the horizon with anticipation as you wait for the great beyond to pop into view... I love my GTA
Online matchmaking was strange, so was manually searching for games... Too many times the refresh didn't truely reflect how many people were in a lobby, and you'd go to join and it would be full.
The game will play great, but I think it looks VERY bland and half-assed. With COD4 looking amazing, R6V just doesn't stack up.
You could just say "AAA" and save yourself some typing... three A's in a row make "Triple A"
All of this talk about MICROSOFT "H4S 2 MAKE ITZ PWN VIRTUAL WORLD!!!" is very presumptious.
If HOME is a big flop, I don't see Microsoft rushing to dump money into their own version.
I'm still not sold on the whole concept of HOME yet. I"m just glad SONY improved the PSN to a point where it's actually somewhat convenient to connect and play games online.
About HOME?
I know it could be cool, but I never got into Second Life, or any of the MMORPGs out there.
If I wanted a virtual world experience, I would have done that on PC already.
So, I feel like console owners aren't going to buy into the whole HOME thing very much.
Even people with XBox Live don't all utilize all of the features available.
People who just want to play games online will be fine with what Xbox Live and PSN have right now. I look at home a...
I personally know a lot of people who were just waiting for the format war to end so that they could committ to one format. And plenty of those same people already plan on picking up a PS3 if/when Blu Ray was the winner just because it's such a great value.
I'm no fanboy. I love the PS3 and all of its potential.
Sure I'm disappointed with its performance so far, and I have definitely been giving the majority of my gaming time to the 360, but I expect this "Official" Blu Ray victory to lead to an increase in PS3s simply because it is a reasonably priced movie player.
Now, get us some more solid exclusives, and the machine will start rolling.
It will still be a while until SONY can even dream about surpassin...
I don't expect Xbox 360 owners to have any more trouble passing their 1080p blu ray movies to their tv than they do with 1080p games currently.
Why the hell did formats ever get these fanboy camps?
It always seemed silly to me... But I guess everyone needs a cause, a purpose for living.
I always viewed MS backing HD-DVD as a half-assed attempt to create confustion in the next gen format arena, just to buy Microsoft some more lead time with the Xbox360.
It was definitely strategic, and put a very small dent in Bill Gates' wallett as opposed to the huge costs that SONY incurred by delaying the PS3, then focusing mo...
Xbox360 Blu Ray player vs. PS3 Comparisons...
Maybe some nice side-by side Standard def videos showing one or the other with its color settings out of whack or maybe use different monitors for each system. That'll make for an unbiased comparison the likes of which us gamers have come to adore... :(
are flame bait
Pop your hard drive (or memory unit- whichever has your profile on it)
in a friend's xbox360 and download it that way..
Even if you don't download it to your hard drive, as long as it's done with your gamertag, XboxLive should remember that your account owns the full version, and you can re-download it when you get your 360 back
Nice ass
Now, did that look like the world was a Halo-like ring, or was that just a very tall mountain in the distance?
